A knight in shining armour

I recently got acquainted with a fellow book fanatic, Wendy (Marvin's girlfriend). She saw my book during a kopi session and we started chatting about the authors we like. It was a wonderful coincidence that we both love Marian Keyes and pretty much the same genres of books. I told her about some of the authors I liked and in turn she told me hers. And the best part. We started trading books :))

And that's how I lay hands on this amazing book, A Knight In Shining Armour by Jude Deveraux. It was an amazing read. A truly glorious love story. It took me only 2 days to complete it. That's how besotted I was with it.

It tells of this girl weeping over a broken heart and a knight in shining armour from the sixteeenth century, Elizabethan time had heard her cries and was transported to the future. He however had a task. He was scheduled to be executed for treason just before he arrived in the future. They set to find out who was the one framing him. He was saddened that history books spoke of him as a wastrel and no one saw the good he had done.

Eventually they found out who was the one and he disappeared to go back to his world. However to the girl's dismay, the history did not change, he was still executed. Then it was her turn to be transported back to the past to warn him. And of course she succeeded and she was sent back to her time without him. They managed to rewrite history and the knight lived to a ripe old age and was known as a great man to the descendants.

But for me to like the book, it has to have a happy ending :p (I'm a hopeless romantic.) And it ended with "my soul will find yours". I will leave you to decipher the ending for yourself. I really don't want to spoil it for you if you intend to pick up this book.

Other than the great plot, the author was also able to inject humour into the book. I have learnt a lot about the Elizabethan times which was something very refreshing.

Nothing perks me up like a great love story :)
