A knight in shining armour
I recently got acquainted with a fellow book fanatic, Wendy (Marvin's girlfriend). She saw my book during a kopi session and we started chatting about the authors we like. It was a wonderful coincidence that we both love Marian Keyes and pretty much the same genres of books. I told her about some of the authors I liked and in turn she told me hers. And the best part. We started trading books :))
And that's how I lay hands on this amazing book, A Knight In Shining Armour by Jude Deveraux. It was an amazing read. A truly glorious love story. It took me only 2 days to complete it. That's how besotted I was with it.
It tells of this girl weeping over a broken heart and a knight in shining armour from the sixteeenth century, Elizabethan time had heard her cries and was transported to the future. He however had a task. He was scheduled to be executed for treason just before he arrived in the future. They set to find out who was the one framing him. He was saddened that history books spoke of him as a wastrel and no one saw the good he had done.
Eventually they found out who was the one and he disappeared to go back to his world. However to the girl's dismay, the history did not change, he was still executed. Then it was her turn to be transported back to the past to warn him. And of course she succeeded and she was sent back to her time without him. They managed to rewrite history and the knight lived to a ripe old age and was known as a great man to the descendants.
But for me to like the book, it has to have a happy ending :p (I'm a hopeless romantic.) And it ended with "my soul will find yours". I will leave you to decipher the ending for yourself. I really don't want to spoil it for you if you intend to pick up this book.
Other than the great plot, the author was also able to inject humour into the book. I have learnt a lot about the Elizabethan times which was something very refreshing.
Nothing perks me up like a great love story :)

FJC BBQ
I've just weighed myself last Saturday and woohoo .......... I've lost 4kg! Well actually to be more accurate should be 3kg because the last 1kg was most likely water.
You see I took part in a slimming competition (it sounds really silly, I know) and the criteria for me to go into the second round is to lose 4kg in 5 weeks. And yippee ........ I made it to the second round! I didn't really put in a lot of effort and during weighing time, realised that I was 1kg away from my goal. The people in-charge didn't want me to give up and kept massaging me with their creams and made me climb flights and flights of stairs. And miraculously 3 hours later, I succeeded in losing that 1kg. How everyone cheered! And I've won myself $3k plus worth of products :D However that process was extremely harrowing and agonizing that I told myself, I'll never go through such last minute weight lost again (my calves are hurting real bad now!)
Now the next phase is to lose another 4kg in 1 month. But I only aim to lose about 3kg and get back my deposit, that would suffice. I think losing another 4kg on my frame would be too extreme. In any case, wish me luck in my slimming programme!
Right after the weighing, I went down to the FJC annual BBQ in Pasir Ris Park. Pig out! Haha ....... God knows how much help I need to lose another 3kg :p

Mic hogger
Do you have pet peeves? I do. Quite a few actually (I'm not a very easy person to live with and I'm very sticky about rules :p)
And last night, I came into encounter with one which pissed the freaking hell off me - mic hogging during karaoke sessions. Have you ever met those regular KTV goers? They know exactly what songs they are going to sing and the moment they sit down, they key in their entire song repertoire. Or maybe you came across this kind that just simply inserts their songs no end.
Well I crossed path with the second kind. Can you believe I actually only sang 1 song throughout the entire KTV session? I had 1 more lined up but that song never came because there was a particular individual who kept inserting her songs. What's more infuriating is that she reached that damn KTV way before I did. The chance to sing prior to me arriving must have been aplenty.
I don't see why I have to pay good money just to sit there and listen to some crappy singing. I could have put the money to good use and bought a few really good albums to listen to over and over again. In fact, I don't even have to be the one singing. I would love to hear the rest sing too. For example, I was really looking forward to 1 song dedicated by another girl (she does a good rendition of it). But of course needless to say, that song never came too. If I had wanted to watch a concert, I would have gone to the indoor stadium and not a KTV.
Call me petty, call me a bitch, whatever ........ There are just some things that I absolutely can't tolerate :p

New blog skin
In a desperate bid to save my blog, I had resorted to changing my template. I didn't have too much time on my hand and so will work on tweaking it a little by little as when time permits. So how do you find my new blog skin? Please also feedback on whether you still have problem viewing my pics.

Random pics
Sigh........ the number of hits on my blog is steadily decreasing. I seriously have to get working on my template to see what's wrong with it. However my biggest obstacle - books. I had just bought a book when Aunty Jac announced that she's giving away her books as she's shifting house. I just couldn't resist it and unbashedfully brought all of them back with me. I must have brought home about 30 paperbacks! That's going to keep me busy for a really long time.
I have such a big weakness for books that I virtually ignore everything else just to finish a book. If I know that I have lots to attend to, I usually avoid embarking on one. Now that I have 3o, I think time is going to come to a stand-still for me :p
Anyway just wanted to post some random pics from my handphone before they become stale topics.
P.S. Aunt Cynthia - Get well soon!
I know I sound seriously suaku but I just couldn't resist taking a pic when I have to stop for a train (a train kind of train :p) while driving around in my course of work.
I came in 2nd in my company's mock-detailing competition which is a pretty big deal. A nice little achievement to add to my resume. If I may say so, I'm so darn proud of myself! :DMeg went for a photoshoot for Marilyn's company's calendar. Soon you'll be able to see her face everywhere :)) It's a 1st for her & she was extremely awkward about it. But still she put in great effort although she doesn't like her clothes and her hair. (She's a vainpot exactly just like her mum :p) A very big thank you to Mar's colleagues for being so patient with her.

Jolene's hen night
My DBB darlings and I were having coffee on Thursday and we had managed to work out some issues. Well in the first place, there weren't too many issues between us except for people trying create problems for us. However we came to the conclusion that no matter who comes in between and no matter what happens, the 4 of us will always be there for each other. And the best part is that we learned we love each other more than ever!
This is definitely worth celebrating and so although I'm still too fat to be allowed to be seen in public but I decided to just heck it and went down to Dragonfly with my darlings on Friday.
The other occassion that we're celebrating is Jolene's hen night. She's getting married next week! I'm soooo happy for her :)) She absolutely deserves all the happiness in the world. You guys won't understand but both she and I knows why is it so important for me personally to see a happily ever after for her. Sounds pretty complicated? :p
It's a totally terrific girl's night out, simply fun, fun, fun! And the best part is that we didn't need to get dead drunk to enjoy each other. Both Joey and I learnt from previous clubbing session that we don't like getting drunk at all and so tried to steer each other clear of the alcohol. The girls were all just wonderful company.
I think that's what frienship is all about - To enjoy time fully with each other; To accept each other for who they are; To accept criticism and advice; To be there for each other when needed; To understand that each have their own lives to lead. I am glad we went through this phase and this made our frienship stronger. I love you girls!

Do you know they're all Ken's secondary schoolmates?
As usual, Kelly must butt into the picture :p
