Desaru
My, my ......... the week simply whizz by. I barely have time to take a breather. There's so much that I wanted to post but just didn't have the time. And when I am able to, it's old news already. The month is coming to an end and I am really close to my sales target. Keep your fingers cross for me everyone :p
The family took a day trip to Desaru with the FJC peeps on Saturday. There were about 15 cars that partake in this outing. It was my first time convoying with such a huge group and to out of town. Only 1 word can describe how I feel about the trip :SCARY! Well it's not the people nor Desaru that I am talking about but the process of getting to and from Desaru.
For one, these guys wanted to test the top speed of their cars and ram like nobody's business. And they also made it their vendetta to overtake any car in sight. I mean it's fine if it's just 1 car overtaking but can you imagine 15 cars?! Whats' more, these were narrow 2 way single lane roads. And when night falls, there were no lamp posts to light the way.
Honestly it was terrifying at night. In spite that I was dead beat after an entire day in the sun, I found that my body couldn't go into a shut-off mode the way it normally does. I was on red alert and although I wasn't the driver, I had my foot in the 'brake' position the whole time. My heart was perpetually in my mouth and it's amazing that I didn't have a heart attack midway. Either I was weird or Megan was weird because she went "Whee..... that's so fun!" But then again, I am the one with the faint heart, I'd never dare try the rides that she likes.
Overall the outing was a huge success and I believe they are arranging another trip soon. Other than photos from my camera, I also 'pinched' lots of photos from the forum taken by the other members. So plenty of photos for your viewing pleasure!
Gathered at 7.30am in West Coast MacDonalds

Snip! Snip!
Megan was pestering me to let her cut her hair after she had seen me cut mine. Haha..... she's such a doll. Remembered how she also cut bangs after I got bangs and then grew her fringe when I grew mine. But I couldn't let her do it till after her ballet exam. So immediately after the exam was over, she reminded me about her hair again.
I was much more reluctant to cut hers than to cut my own. You see.... she was quite botak when she's a baby. Hair didn't really start growing till after 2 years old. And from then on, she had always had long hair. She was really proud of it as well. It really surprised me that she was so insistent on cutting despite the entire family trying very hard to dissuade her.
So on Saturday I finally brought her to cut her hair. I wanted the hair just below the shoulder so that she can still tie her hair for ballet. However the stylist did a bad job and the cut was very slanted. As I was working on Sunday, I got Ken to bring her back to the stylist again to trim it. But lo and behold, it got way shorter than what I expected. Ken said she was quite sombre after the haircut :p Thank goodness, Meg actually took it quite well and was actually very happy that she now longer have to tie her hair for school.

Snip! Snip! Goes the scissors.
There....the deed is done
Very pleased with herself
Little imp
This is only the length after the 1st cut. I have not taken pics of her after her 2nd cut yet.

All in a day
Meg has received the very 1st certificate in her life! She had passed her ballet exam =D Haha..... actually there's no grading in pre-primary level but still I was anxious no end. In fact, her ballet teacher took the exam very seriously and held very high expectations of her brood. I am so extremely proud of her.
As a reward, Ken and I brought her to watch Disney on Ice : Pixar's Finding Nemo. If you read my previous post, you'll know that I was trying to sell off the tickets for Thursday as Meg had ballet practice. I was pretty disgusted with the people on Yahoo Auction, they actually offered to buy the $150 worth of tickets at $60! It's so ridiculous. I know I have to make a loss but at least offer me a reasonable price. But thank God for aunty Jac, out of the goodness of her heart, she bought them off me and even paid the original price of the ticket. So with that, I bought new tickets for Friday. Meg totally enjoyed herself! She was shooting questions throughout the entire show.
And in the night, I met up with my colleagues and my DBB darlings in Dragonfly. We took so many photos that it took me forever, sorting them out and uploading them. My darlings were there way earlier because Kelly wanted to go to Powerhouse to support her friend in the Cleo's Bachelor finals. But as I have no personal agenda (it's a major turn-off for me to see guys with their heads up in the clouds) and I don't want to be pushing through throngs of girls in the pursuit of their hunks, I opted to meet them later.
But it seems there were a couple of events in St James that night and the place was packed! It took us more than an hour before we finally stepped into Dragonfly. With the exception of Stella and me, the group had wanted to abandon the queue and go for a movie instead. However in the end, they still waited with me because they knew how much I was looking forward to it. Hee~~ Love you guys!
It was the first time my colleagues met the DBBs and they were in for a huge culture shock! They were not used to our wild partying and besides I don't know what got into their system that night, they were crazier than usual :p Haha.... but thank goodness they soon got used to it and started having fun too.
It was there, we learnt that Devils Bar is closing down this month and we probably might arrange one last night there to reminisce. You know how they say that night spots are bad places but Devils Bar did give me the few most important things in my life. Afterall that's where my tight friendship with the girls were formed and that's also where I got to know Kenneth.
Meg's teacher doesn't allow the parents to tie the girls' hair for the exam so we have to bring them down early to let the professionals do it.

Here's Meg all ready for the first exam in her life

They had a party after their exams to reward them for work well done
I'm such a proud mother!

Meg loved the way they tied her hair for her exam
I thought I looked strange in this photo and insisted on another one
Haha ...... She thought I was troublesome and posed unhappily after that

My darling Ken Ken was labelled a camera whore in Miko's blog. Not that I blame her! :p
(1) Miko got this down as evidence
(2) His face perked up when he saw the girls were getting ready for a photo
(3) He quickly moved closer and conveniently positioned himself
(4) Ta...Da.... Mission accomplished. The girls didn't even know he was in the frame till they were reviewing the photo later. Haha~~
I love him soooo much!

Here's Kelly trying to make a grab at Ken's butt
Hee hee~~~ Mr. camera whore

My little sister
Erykca was on the front page in yesterday's STRAITS TIMES. I remembered her calling me up excitedly telling me that she was to be interviewed by the press and then calling me up again to tell me there was a also a photoshoot involved. I am sooo proud of her!
This was her second time being interviewed after working for MOS. The first was by LIME magazine. Her colleagues in MOS are teasing her and calling her a 'mini celebrity'. =D
I might not have said it before but I am really proud of your achievements. You were always spoken highly of by your peers and superiors. And for a girl of 23 years old, to be promoted to Bar Captain in the top club in Singapore is no mean feat. You are doing really well and should not be bothered about others' opinion of you. Always remember that you live for yourself. Follow your heart and be brave. Success is yours.
I am happy that you are my little sister and no one could have had a better sister than you =)

It's March school holidays
Right, it's the March school holidays and it's jammed packed with activities. It's a wonder how we managed to squeeze everything in in the last couple of days. Amidst all the holiday homework and preparing Meg for her pre-primary RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) exams, we went prawning, visit a goat farm and the Night Safari. Lots of wholesome stuffs :) Meg in her ballet class - they are all so adorable in their tutus and leotards
She's been practicing real hard for her exams which is tomorrow. She has no inkling what is an exam so I'm the one feeling the jitters instead. There's a skipping rope routine in the choreography but no matter how, she can't seem to master it (guess she's got my genes). She will just have to sit out in that one and she's pretty sadden by that. Her ballet teacher reassures the both of us that it's alright but I think it still bothers her. Poor thing :(
Brought Meg to the airport on Sunday night for ice-cream with the FJC peeps (dark pics cos using my phone camera)
Thereafter adjourned for 'prawning' in Pasir Ris
It's my very 1st time prawning and the very 1st time that Meg stayed out so late. We left only at 2am and she could barely keep her eyes open.
We got all excited over Jame's prawn. He caught 2 and we caught none. In the end, he gave them to Meg to rear but prawns died after 2 days.
Ken & Meg were quite upset that they didn't manage to catch any
.jpg)
In Hay Dairies goat farm
We were all really excited about visiting the goat farm. A pity we missed the milking session which is held only in the morning.
These kids were really cute! Some are only 2 weeks old.
Meg was quite put off by the stench but she forgot about it the moment she set sight on the goats.
Ouch! Hee~~ Bitten by an over-zealous kid.
They bite everything they can lay their mouths on
Even your pants if you walk too close to them!
This is one tall scary fella. He's as tall as Ken but really tame though.
Bought $2 worth of alfafa hay to feed them
Enjoying themselves
All of us are in the pic so who's the one who took this? Megan!
Mum buying some goat milk to take home
We really want to go back there again soon!
Undeterred, Ken brought Liz & Jon prawning this time, hoping to have better luck

Meg was having so much fun that she refuses to let go of the rod and let us have a go
We had quite a good catch - 10 prawns and 2 small fishes. FISHES??!! Yah, when Meg caught the 1st fish, we were so amused that we went into a laughing fit. The 2nd one was caught by Jon. Kudos to Liz who caught the most and Ken finally went home happy cos he caught 1.
Meg was tired after the entire day's activities
Haha........ I don't know why she's giving Ken the frown!
Meg's 1st visit to the Night Safari
Flash photography was not allowed so we took photos at whatever opportunity we had, which wasn't alot.
.JPG)
Meg was so enthralled with the whole experience. She was holding on to Liz's hand and asking Liz 'what's that noise' the whole time.
A cheeky wink from Meg. She always have so much fun when Jon & Liz are around.
At the animal show
I had freaked out when they told us they had lost a snake (and I had known it's part of the show!)
Meg in my aviator shades. Hee....hee.... I love this pic!

Mr.Sun is back
I had turned a ghostly shade of white after the last few months of heavy downpour. Now that Mr. Sun is back, I can't wait to bask in his glorious warmth again. Besides, I think a nice golden tan would suit my new short hair just fine.
My DBB darlings and I shared the same sentiments. Hence, we were down in Tanjung beach on Saturday. Kelly had a travel fair and was quite upset that she couldn't join us. (*But don't worry dear, we'll arrange another outing real soon.) It must have been more than a year since all of us went to Sentosa together. Therefore this was really special to me.
Miko, Marilyn and I just couldn't get enough of the sun and practically dunked ourselves in suntan oil. Noelle was the exact opposite. She was doused with sun block instead. But she was such a great friend that she didn't mind sitting out there in the sun with us even though it risked getting her tanned.
At the end of the day, we all got what we wanted - BURNT. Haha ...... We were still lamenting that the sun was not strong enough. Imagine what would have happened if the sun was out in full force! Guess we were too anxious to get a tan. But it was a good thing Noelle retained her snowy white skin though.
Still we are not daunted but will be making plans for our next suntanning session soon ;)
Meg had an excellent time getting acquainted with her aunty Miko & aunty Noelle

A completely drenched Woofie. He might not look like he's having fun but (trust me on this) he's really having the ball of his life.

The whole gang chilling out in the sea

Gorgeous babes
Now my turn to be in the pic
Looking quite the man in my aviator sunglasses
With the real man
Life is as perfect as can be

Angel hamster
Megan found 1 of her 2 hamsters dead yesterday and she was inconsolable. This was her 1st experience in dealing with death and my 1st lesson in teaching her about death. Grief was however not her first reaction. She was more curious and excited rather than sad. I was quite alarmed by that but realised that that's because she hadn't grasped the concept of death yet.
Megan saw the hamster lying uncharacteristically still in the cage and hurriedly called for me to come. After I pronounced the hamster dead and gingerly wrapped it in tissues to be placed in a box, she insisted on examining the rigor mortis body. Thereafter she looked at me doubtfully and questioned how would I know that it's dead and not just sleeping. I assured her that I knew my stuff. And to be doubly sure she understood, I informed her that she will never see her hamster again. She seemed surprise at this revelation even though I knew she knows that the dead will never come back.
It's awful having to explain death to someone so young. It's really difficult to explain why does the dead stay dead and why do people die. Since her school taught her a lot about God and Jesus, I thought it best to tell her that hamster had gone to heaven to be with God. She then asked why does God want her hamster to die. (She's been asking a lot of, why does God want certain things to happen, kind of questions recently.) I told her as best as I can that God loves her hamster and wants to give him the best playground ever. He will have so many exercise wheels to choose from and as many hamster treats too.
She seemed satisfied with my answer and was about to let it go when it dawned on her to ask how does the hamster come alive in heaven again. Oh tricky ......... How does one go about defining souls to a 5 year old? I had to resort to using cartoons to illustrate. "Did the hamster grow wings then?" She asked. "Yup" I replied "You now have an angel hamster to look over you now."
Pleased, she flounced off happily to play, forgetting all about the hamster till it came bedtime. She lies in bed sobbing and told me in between tears that she misses her hamster 'didi' (translates: brother). She tells everyone that she has 3 'didi' - Woofie and the 2 hamsters. Poor girl.
Sadly though, angel hamster doesn't have a name. Meg had given him so many names that we're at a lost as to what is really his name. It's most likely 'Bappy' or 'Bippy'. Or perhaps I should call him ANGEL.
I read from Miko's blog that Desmond's faithful dog, Lucky, had just passed away. I truly feel for them.
May our beloved pets rest in peace and they will always live in our memories.

'Pixar's Finding Nemo' tickets for sale

I have made a huge mistake! I had forgotten all about Megan's ballet exam and went ahead to book tickets for
'Disney On Ice presents Disney / Pixar's Finding Nemo'. Now I am desperately trying to find someone to take over these tickets so that I can purchase tickets for another day.
It's a total of 3 tickets for
15 March 2007, Thursday, at 3.30pm. As I reserved them early, they are very good seats too. It's
Section:A14 Rows:11 Seats:1,2,3. The original price of each ticket is
$45.50 but I'm willing to let go of it at a cheaper price. Please email me if you are interested :)
Just uploaded my camera and found a couple more short-haired photos which was taken on Friday when I went to the KTV with a group of long lost friends. All the pics were over-exposed

Fiddling with Photoshop to fix the over-exposure and ended up with this
A side profile of the hair
Long-haired pics taken just before I chopped off my tresses. All self-taken in the car while I was waiting for Megan to finish her ballet class. Haha ..... Ultra-bored & ultra-vain is a deadly combination (brace yourself)! :p

Esther & her golden locks
I'm right now teaching Megan her spelling and if any of you had any experience in teaching small kids, you'll understand my frustration. If you hadn't, try teaching a 5 year old spell 'whiteboard'. *bangs head against wall*
Plus Woofie is not helping with his non-stop barking in the background either. I wish those neighbours of mine would quit walking up and down my unit! Seriously, I mean there's only so many number of family members and so many number of times that one can go in and out of the house right? But NO! I can see one walking up or down every other 10 mins. (Ok I am exaggerating but you get the idea.) And there's only one unit next to mine! Ai yiah yiah ....... *doubly bangs head against wall*
I'm not really in the mood to blog now but I had cut my hair for coming a week now and I have not blogged about it. Yup, you heard me right. I said cut. Cut as in really short kind of cut. There were many reviews about it. It ranges from "it's refreshing" to "I prefer you with long hair". With the majority going with "I prefer you with long hair". And for those who said "it's refreshing", was probably a diplomatic way of saying "I prefer you with long hair". :p
But well then again, hair is hair. It will grow. So no regrets on my part (ok maybe just a teeny-weeny bit). Actually I think it's a fairly nice change; For one, my face looks more slender and the other is that I have loads of people coming up to me saying I look like 'Ivy Lee' (well I take that as a compliment I suppose).
You can see for yourself how I look with my short hair from the pics taken in Dragonfly (my maiden visit). I was there with the FJC peeps on Saturday. As always, it's a hilarious affair in which both Ken and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
*note: As I pen the very last full-stop in this post, I just saw yet another neighbour walk past my unit and there it sets off Woofie again ..........
Ken with the FJC peeps
Ta....Da.... Can you find me with my short hair?
The guys just couldn't get it when we said we only wanted girls in this pic
Nicked this from Jamie's blog cos I think I look quite good in this pic. hehe~~
Haha..... Dennis's idea to pose 1,2,3,4
Andrew caught me dancing happily by myself and wanted a candid shot but I still managed a pose somewhat. Told him I was 'camera-sensitive' :p This is quite an unflattering shot but all pics were courtesy from Andrew and beggars can't be chooser.
Lucky Andrew with a bevy of beauties
This is the start of many funny pics to come
Poor Ken - one of the many GBs that happened that night
Basically you have an idea how the night went. These were the milder photos. There were many other photos but decided that they were too wild. Afterall there are minors visiting this site and the FJC peeps might also decide to boycott me.

More of Chinese New Year
I didn't realise that there were still so many photos from Chinese New Year that I have not posted yet. This CNY sure is one long celebration for me!
My colleague, Amy invited us to her house for potluck dinner. Megan took the pics of these little girls (Zara & SiSi) while the adults were having dinner. Hee....hee.... she's getting quite handy with the camera.

We were at aunty Jac's house awaiting the arrival of the lion dance troupe. Meg playing with sparklers.

Everyone enjoying themselves at the see-saw

Megan looking extremely sweet!

Ken & the adorable Nicole

Jonathan hiding under the chair as he didn't like lion dance and there's Meg coaxing him to come out
A short clip of the lion dance (unable to upload the remainder into Youtube)Erm.... what do you call this?
Meg's 2 new friends - Eliza & Faith
Invited the FJC peeps over for CNY dinner.
Huat ah!
Meg insisted that I plait this for her last night - ouch my poor hands :p
A very satisfied customer
Decided to take a pic to show everyone, Megan's daily bedtime routine. She has to arrange each and every single toy to sleep next to her. An extremely long & tedious process!!!
